iDocket.com Helps Potter County Win Best Practices Award
Texas Association of Counties recognizes Potter County's use of 'Virtual Clerk' as a best practice.
AUSTIN, TX August 15, 2000—The Texas Association of Counties has awarded Cindy Groomer, Potter County District Clerk, the Best Practice Award for a 'Virtual Clerk', iDocket.com. The award will be presented on August 22 at 7:00 pm on the floor of the Texas Senate.
The TAC presents awards for innovation and best practices in several fields, including technology. Nominees are submitted by county officials and evaluated on cost, effectiveness, efficiency and worthiness. The intent of the award is to highlight effective practices that can be carried over to other Texas Counties.
"I was thrilled," Cindy Groomer said of learning she had won the award. "Often times a negative connotation goes along with initiatives the county tries to implement. This is very productive for us at the District Clerk's office."
The 'Virtual Clerk' is an Internet database that allows users to search for court case information from their own PC—at any time—rather than phoning, faxing or visiting the Clerk's office. The project, located at www.idocket.com, has helped Potter County to provide better access to its constituents, to reduce the workload of its staff and to streamline the judicial system, all at no cost.
